One problem all motorists come across from time to time during night-time driving is the dazzling or blinding effect of other drivers’ headlights in the rear view mirror. As well as being irritating, this can be tiring on the eyes and even sometimes, quite dangerous.
Electrochromatic rear view mirror automatically adjusts the angle of reflection to minimise glare.
A sensor in the mirror detects the strength of the light coming from headlights behind and the electro-chromatic system reacts immediately to help ensure you can see clearly in the mirror and drive without the stressful distraction of having to constantly adjust your eyes to bright and dark.
an electrical charge is applied to the electrochromatic glass and the light
transmission properties of the glass are changed. In effect, this tints the glass allowing less light to be reflected to the driver. Today, the main chemical used in this process is usually Tungsten Trioxide.
